Yarns and Artisans

In addition to FIloscozia The Original, Cotton and Wool, in some models these natural elements are mixed with small quantities of high quality synthetic products selected by our supplier, strictly in small quantities to ensure maximum fit in safety.

To guarantee maximum benefits, making natural and safe products.

Below are the three elements that are used in our socks.

Suppliers of About Socks realize socks with natural products (Cotton, Wool) and add only in some models, small quantities of high quality synthetic components, to ensure maximum safety of its products.

Natural, safe high quality products.

All with maximum transparency, because people come before everything.

We create socks and products, thinking of them for ourselves and for our families, guaranteeing total security for every person.

To know is important; we always want to share everything with our customers, the quality of our products, the transparency in our relationship with you.

Polyamide:

Nylon, also called Polyamide or Polyamide, is a product used during the Second World War, as part of the parachute, when the war ended polyamide began to be used in the production of stockings, replacing silk. Polyamides are polymers. They can be of natural origin (for example silk and wool) or of synthetic origin (such as nylon). In 1935, the first synthetic polyamide was discovered by Du Pont, which began marketing it in 1938 under the name Nylon 6.6. In the following years, Nylon began to be used for the production of socks and derivatives (pantyhose). The main benefit of this fibre is that it allows to obtain beautiful, bright and resistant socks.

Elastham :

Elastham, or Elastam, Elastane or Spandex in the United States. The first studies on polyurethane began in the 1930s in the Bayer research laboratories. In 1939 Paul Schlack obtained a high molecular weight polymer that allows to obtain fibre characterized by strong stretches and elastic properties. Elastomers give socks and stockings a new fit thanks to their elasticity.

Its main characteristic is the high elasticity accompanied by the reentry force, keeping these properties unaltered over time. The elastomeric thread can extend up to eight times its initial length and return to the initial condition as soon as the tension is loosened. Fit and comfort are the first and most appreciated consequences of this property. Lycra is a type of Elastham.

Acrylic

Acrylic is a very special synthetic fabric, in fact it is the most similar to wool: it is light, heat-insulating, warm and soft to the touch, but does not felt; for this reason, acrylic is often spun (in small quantities) together with wool to improve its properties.
As a term, acrylic gathers a family of synthetic fibres obtained from the polymerization of acrylonitrile. It is defined as true Acrylic, the fibre that has 85% by weight of the monomers present in the polymer chain consisting of acrylonitrile. The first acrylic fibrewas Orlon in 1950; two years later, again in the United States, Acrilan was launched on the market. In Italy the first acrylic fibre produced was the Leacril (1959). The Dralon is covered by a German patent.

Acrylic is mainly made of flocks with a soft and voluminous appearance, making it feel soft and warm to the touch.

Supplier reserves the right to change the technological characteristics of the product according to market needs. The yarns indicated are described with the sole purpose of providing general and non-specific information on what really used in stockings. The company is exempt from changes that may occur naturally or due to supplier choices or inaccurate descriptions. Supplier may temporarily use a yarn manufacturer other than indicated, yarns with different characteristics from what is indicated, even without warning and even for long periods of time. However the supplier undertakes to keep the quality constant by using similar yarns as much as possible. For the composition, what is indicated in the label on the product is valid. The certifications indicated refer to the yarn used or to the supplier of the yarn (and not to the yarn itself); they do not refer to the finished socks. They are owned by the yarn producers and not by the artisan supplier of socks, or by the company About.

Italian packaging

For About Socks, what our product contains, your feet, is important: they are the centre of our thoughts and our aims.
Also what contains our socks is important, because a high quality artisan product also requires a high quality, environmental and design pack.

Simple lines, because simplicity is goodness. An excellent product does not need special packaging, but the simplicity of quality, so that it is the product to stand out and not the image, what matters is the product and its concrete ability to make people live better.

Both the pack and the jumper that holds the socks together are made of pure cellulose Elemental Chlorine Free, ECF:  bleaching is made without elemental chlorine, but with products with low environmental impact. Cellulose doughs are FSC certified, because respect for forests is important, respecting nature means respecting man.

Our packaging is completely biodegradable and recyclable, made in Italy by a trusted artisan typography.

Because well-made things are not only beautiful, but also sustainable and quality.

Linking by hand

Linking is a processing phase in the textile sector.

Hand linking makes it possible to have an elegant, artisan, comfortable and well-made product.

Hand linking means exactly joining the ranks of the tip with those of the foot. The effect created by the skilled hands of the craftsman creates a comfort without comparisons, in fact with hand linking, if wisely applied, no overlapping points are formed that could annoy the touch. A quality hand piece gives the feeling as if there was no “seam”, as if it were a single piece.

Hand linking About Socks creates greater comfort, less complaint due to rubbing inside the shoe, more comfort in use and superior quality of the product, a unique HAND MADE product. Craftsmanship, knowledge. Handmade Made in Italy. All the knowledge of our craftsmen located in the most important district of the men’s socks, make the product unique, of excellent quality. Always artisan and never industrial.

REAL WELLNESS, TRUE ITALIAN LIFE STYLE.

Linking made by machine

Some of our socks are linking in a crafted way using the “Red seam system”, a mechanical seaming system created in a traditional way by our manufacturer.
Each processing is always artisan and never industrial, always 100% Italian, a true Italian Lifestyle experience.
